Oh. My. Freaking. Gods! There are no words in this universe that could explain my feelings about this book. I went through so many emotions throughout this book, from freaking out, to crying to laughing and hopeful. I just loved every single second of it and it is without a doubt my favourite book of all time.
Alex has connected with Seth. Unaware of her previous state of mind and her feelings for Aiden, Alex knows only one thing. Seth is her other half and she needs him. Aiden is determined to bring the real Alex back and won't give up on her. But Aiden is still reeling from the fact that he had to put her on the Elixir. If Alex comes back will she ever forgive him for doing the one thing he promised not to? And will they have the strength to defeat Seth and Lucian and stop a war with the Gods from happening? One this is for certain... they are at war now and not everyone is going to survive!
It's fair to say that I have been dying for this book for a long time. I absolutely love it and the ending of both Deity and Elixir had my dying for more and needed to know what happened to these characters next. This is without a doubt the best book in the series so far. One thing I adore about this series is that you never know what is going to happen next. The books just get better and better the furthur through the series you get. It's just phenomenal. One thing Jennifer is brilliant at is throwing you twists and turns that you would never see coming. As soon as I was sure I knew what was coming and what was going to happen she would throw something in there where I was left like: *gasp* No way... I never saw that coming! I was literally left on the edge of my seat all the way through the book, freaking out and quite frankly scared to finish the book as I didn't want it to ever end and I just knew Jennifer would throw something in there that would leave me speechless and dying for Sentinel.
I don't want to say too much about the characters as I don't want to spoil anything but Apollyon was the only book where I wanted to smack Alex... HARD! I know I know it's not her fault, she's connected to Seth and doesn't really have control over what she was doing. But oh my gods I just wanted someone to smack her so damn hard and knock some damn sense into her. Everytime Seth was inside her head talking to her through the connection I found myself screaming "GET OUT OF HER HEAD" at the book. YES... this book turned me crazy!!
Aiden... Oh just when I thought I couldn't possibly love him any more. I just love him. He's perfect and all the way through reading I just kept sending Jennifer messages saying, Why can't he be real? He is and will always be my number one book boyfriend of all time because he is just amazing and perfect. You really see how amazing and loyal he is, how he will never give up on Alex even if he has to fight Gods for her. What I really loved about Aiden was that in Apollyon you really see a more vulnerable side to him. In the first 3 installments of the series you really see the strong Aiden who is fighting his growing feelings for Alex and trying to train her to be the best Sentinel she can be. In Elixir, which is from Aiden's POV, we do see a new side of him but he's still fierce, loyal and protective. However in Apollyon you see the vulnerability in him and how his actions in Elixir affected him and how he feels guilty about what he did. I really loved seeing that side of him.
Now I won't talk about Seth all that much as I'm pretty sure everyone knows how I feel about Seth by now. At the end of Deity I hated Seth... I mean physically hated him where I wanted to jump in the book and kill him myself! In Elixir... yep continued to hate him and I was convinced I would forever hate him. By the end of Apollyon I no longer hate him... don't get me wrong I still do not like him AT ALL but I can't hate him. He has done some questionable things and I don't think he should get away with them as he is guilty of causing hundreds of people to be killed. BUT I feel really sorry for him. It is so obvious that all he wants is acceptance and to be loved. Seth has never really had that and he thinks he has found that with Lucian. It is obvious (to me anyway) that Seth is just being manipulated and used by Lucian for his own gain and I feel so sorry for him that he can't see that. Though at the same time I wanna punch him and say WAKE UP STOP BEING AN IDIOT! I am really looking forward to seeing what happens with Seth in the next installment of The Covenant series.
Overall this is without a doubt the best Covenant book so far but there is no doubt in my mind that Sentinel will surpass it. Every Jennifer L Armentrout book I read just enforces my belief that she can do no wrong. She is a writing goddess and there is nothing she can write that I won't love and obsess over. Apollyon is no different, it is without a doubt my favourite book of Jennifers, and of all time in fact but there is no doubt in my mind that whatever book she comes out with next, will it be the next Covenant novel, Lux novel or something else it will blow my mind.
I am dying to read Sentinel and find out how it all ends but at the same time I am heartbroken that there is only one book left. How can we be nearly finished with this series and what on earth am I to do then? I will just have to cry in a corner... or just re-read the books over and over again.
Apollyon is such a fast and amazing roller-coaster ride that will have you bouncing with happiness one minute and freaking out the next. With so many twists and turns you might end up with whiplash this is one book that is not to be missed. I am left hanging on to every word and dying for the next book. Definitely a must-read for everyone! This is one series that is not to be missed out on. Jennifer is officially the queen of writing and I will forever be waiting and dying for her next novel.
the point of a novella is an additional story. its presence (or absence) should have no effect on the overall arc of the main series. its a nice little bonus. if there is important information that is necessary to have before beginning the next book in the series, IT SHOULD BE INCLUDED IN A MAIN BOOK!!! how am i expected to (logically) begin this immediately after the previous book and ju
i want to begin with the bone i have to pick with JLA. this is the first time im actually really mad at her.the point of a novella is an additional story. its presence (or absence) should have no effect on the overall arc of the main series. its a nice little bonus. if there is important information that is necessary to have before beginning the next book in the series, IT SHOULD BE INCLUDED IN A MAIN BOOK!!! how am i expected to (logically) begin this immediately after the previous book and just be okay with a massive chunk of the story missing!?!?? i had to read several chapters before i realised i personally didnt forget something that happened, i just had never read it to begin with. its extremely frustrating and ensures that my reading experience begins with an negative start. im really disappointed she did this.
that being said, once i got over my initial anger and could somewhat piece together the information i was missing, i did enjoy this. i love how the gods are becoming bigger players in the story after being absent at the beginning of the series. this does definitely feel like a filler book, as not much really happens other than forming a plan for the upcoming war. i do have a feeling the next book is going to be an epic conclusion to this series though.

My feet touched the ground and I took a step forward—one, and then another. And Aiden didn't move. He waited. It was in those eyes of his, the finality of this. He wouldn't win, he couldn't and he knew it. Aiden accepted it. As I reached him, the rain stopped and the clouds parted. The sun followed my footsteps. "Alex." Aiden's voice was broken. Like a cobra striking, I took Aiden's legs out from under him and he was on his back before another breath could be taken. Straddling him, I placed my hands on his shoulders. The marks of the Apollyon glowed a vibrant blue and raced over my skin. I leaned in, placing my lips above his and the words that came out of my mouth were mine… but weren't. "All moments end, Saint Delphi. And now yours has." I pressed my lips to the corner of his and he flinched. "You are weak because you love." Aiden stared up at me, unblinking. "To love is not weak. Love is the strongest thing there is." My lips curved into a smile. Idiot.
Teaser #2
His all-white eyes gleamed. "I've seen it all in battle. There is the way the body curls into itself when it wants death. There is the silent scream for release. There are the eyes, and they speak even when the tongue no longer works. And then there is the soul that rots so poorly when death is wanted but withheld that it carries a certain stench." Ice shot through my veins, turning my blood to slush. At that moment I knew no matter how much I fought, this… this was going to suck.

THE FIRST CHAPTER OF THE APOLLYON!!!
and...
Teaser #3:
"One down," I said, turning around. "Who's ne—?"
Thanatos tossed Marcus to the ground, deflected Solos' attack, and turned on me in a nanosecond. It was pretty epic.
A bolt of white light flew from Thanatos' hand and there wasn't a single thing in this world that could move fast enough. Not even Seth, I was betting.
It hit me just below the chest and my legs collapsed from underneath me. Red-hot, searing pain sliced through my skin and my face smacked off the ground. I didn't even feel it. There was nothing but the razing pain locking up my muscles.
God bolts sucked.
Aiden yelled my name, and then I thought I heard my name called again, but it was inside my head, loud, and so very angry… and it sounded like Seth.
Without any warning, the ground trembled under my twitching body. A flash of golden light cascaded through the clearing. Warmth stole over my body. Weakly, I lifted my head.
Two leather-clad legs stood before me.
"That is enough, Thanatos." Apollo's voice was calm, but it was that creepy, deadly calm I never wanted to be on the receiving end of.
"N-n-nice of y-you to s-show up," I gasped.
"Shut up, Alex." Apollo strode forward. A ray of light followed his steps.
Teaser #4:
"They do." Apollo's eyes narrowed on me. "But I was hoping there was something knocking around in her brain that held the answer to that little problem. But—" Apollo smacked a hand down on my leg. "Must you always be moving some part of your body?"
I glared at him as I not-so-gently removed his hand. The contact of his flesh on mine brought the marks of Apollyon out like nothing else. And I knew he saw them by the way his eyes darted over my face. "It's not hurting you," I said.
"It's annoying."
"You're annoying," I shot back.

Teaser #5 and Teaser #6
Update (27.12.2012):
Teaser #7:
Absolute power—unforgiving and hard, pure as it was deadly— coursed over my skin. I reared back, summoning the fifth and final element. Intense blue light erupted from my palm.
Akasha ripped from me, arcing through the air like cloud-to-cloud lightning, homing in on its target and striking true. The sky crackled and heated. One second, the automaton was on his knee, and the next he was nothing but a pile of shimmery dust.
"Good gods," came Olivia's hoarse whisper.
Another automaton took the fallen one's place, swinging out with a metal hand that clinked and clicked. Fire sparked from its open mouth. I spun, catching the broad side of his arm and twisting. The hoarse shout of pain was lost in the clash of metal, the thunder of bullets finding another automaton.
It raised its bull face and snapped at me with massive jaws. "Please." I placed my hand on the massive forehead.
Blue light coursed over the head and down the body, lightening up the metallic skull and bone structure. For a moment, it was like a pretty x-ray or a jellyfish—a really disturbing jellyfish—and then cobalt light radiated from its eyes and open mouth. It imploded—caved in on itself, turning to nothing but dust.
And then the crap really hit the fan.
The automatons—every last one of the freaky bull things—turned on me. They moved quickly, metal legs rattling and clinking. Fire spewed from their mouths like the poor man's version of a dragon. They came from all directions, Apollyon-seeking missiles with "Kill Alex" stamped all over them.
Fire came from them, blinding and intense. Nothing existed outside the flames. No sound. No sight. My world was red and orange...
And my world was tinted in amber.
Alex? His voice came through the thrumming connection.
I ignored him and the way his consciousness slid in alongside mine. What are you up to?
Update (26.01.2013):
Teaser #8:
"Sounds like a smart idea." Dark humor laced Aiden's voice. "You might want to get your gun off my brother's face while you're at it."
Teaser #9:
There was a knock, and we drew apart an instant before the door swung open and Deacon's mop of head popped in. Aiden groaned, but his eyes lightened up several shades.
"Good morning!" Too much cheer ring in his voice for this time of the morning.
My cheeks burned as i mumbled, "Morning."
Before either of us can say another word, Deacon darted from the door and launched him self on the bed, soaring through the air like a human projectile. I jerked to the side with the split-second to spare. He landed with his legs on his brother and the upper part of his body between us.
Deacon threw his arms behind his head, folding them as he tipped his head beck and greened at us. "it's like puppy pile."
I think this is my favorite books in the series. It's so dynamic and fun and adorable and action packed and so FREAKING SAD I HATE IT SO MUCH. I don't like the fact that we just don't see some characters that dies in the Underworld nor they're mentioned. 2021 me need an Underworld novella with all of them.

I honestly have no words. I'm just going to go to a corner and cry.

Apollyon is even better than the previous in the series, and will leave you wishing you already had the next one on your e-reader waiting for you. I kid you not, I jerked back and clicked back and forth hoping I was wrong and hadn't reached the end yet. I for real pouted for a good ten minutes. But, Jennifer has a way of writing endings that make you crave her next book without hating her for leaving it the way she did, and I LOVE her for that!

In Apollyon we get to see SO many changes in the group of Alex's friends that we love. And a great change in Alex. There's a lot of growth and maturity in the group, and my favorite is watching Aiden really begin to open up and step up. Oh Aiden...I do love me some Aiden.... *sigh*
unfortunately, with how things ended in #3 and #3.5, I can't say too much about the changes in the group without giving certain things away. But trust me, this is a MUST. READ.
Apollyon will blow you away, have you gasping, your heart clenching...and racing (sheww, you will definitely need to fan yourself a few times) and overall have you on the edge of your seat waiting to see what happens on the next page.
Honest to God, it was amazing and I can't wait to see what happens next!
I was given an ARC to read and give my honest review.

And I swear, I feel like I'm repeating the same thing over and over again in each review xD. Just me rambling on and on about how much I love these guys—but I just can't stop.😍
🛑WARNING: SPOILERS FROM PREVIOUS BOOKS!!!🛑
"To love is not weak. Love is the strongest thing there is."
Aiden St. Delphi does it again.🥺 He refuses to give up on Evil-Alex even after Normal-Alex has connected to the Seth and being told that there was no hope for her. Agghhhh Aiden & Alex!!! Their love for each other makes me want to cry.😭😍
Omg Alex's Apollyon powers were ✨A M A Z I N G✨ And there's so much growth in her, even Laadan mentions how mature Alex has become (although I mean, that's bound to happen when you've dealt with the things she has😬). STILL. MY FAVOURITE WAS ALEX GOING APOLLYON ON ALL THOSE SUCKERS.😈😆 (Apollyons really are OP xD)
We see wayyy more of Deacon, Luke, Olivia, Marcus, and yes, even Lea. I love how Marcus and Alex's relationship have improved A LOT since the first book. It almost looks like they were never hostile towards each other xD.
And NOW is when Marcus actually acts like Alex's uncle and talks about the sleeping arrangements between the her and Aiden.😂😂😂 That's funny lol. At least he's doing his duty as her guardian lol.
Now DEACON.😍😍😍
Gosh, why are the St. Delphis just so lovable?!?! I would 100% love having a spin-off of Deacon, but I know that's never going to happen (or maybe it's the "never to say never" thingy).
From the first book, he was seen as the laid-back and drunk addict teen, who didn't seem to care at all about anything or what his brother thought, but oh how wrong that was. Deacon fiercely loves Aiden and wants more than anything for him to be happy. The comments he makes whenever he's around Aiden & Alex, too hehe.😏🥰
"Skittles?""Please."
I dumped some into his open palm, then picked out the green ones. Aiden grinned at me.
"You know I don't like the green ones?"
Shrugging, I popped them in my mouth.
"The few times I've seen you eat them, you leave the green ones behind."
Deacon popped his head between our seats.
"That's true love right there."
"That it is."
^ I love this guy. <3
Also, there were a lot of references to (a show? I'm pretty sure) Supernatural and even though I totally haven't watched it, I love how JLA adds in these kind of reference to real-life tv shows xD.
"Go ahead," Apollo said to Luke. "Tell them what it is, since it's obviously hugging material."
Crimson stained Luke's cheeks. "Legend goes that one of the gates to hell is in Stull Cemetery in Kansas."
"Oh, gods," I muttered, remembering where I'd heard this before. "Wasn't that a season finale on Supernatural?" When the boys nodded, my eyes rolled. "Seriously? Are Sam and Dean going to be there?"
Ahh yes, and Apollo. The guy known to pop in at the worst time and scare the hell out of the others😂. I mean, if a God just poofed in out of nowhere, I'd be pretty freaked out , too xD (he obviously enjoys doing that). LOL and whenever he appeared, almost always something funny would come out of it.😆
"They do." Apollo's eyes narrowed on me. "But I was hoping there was something knocking around in her brain that held the answer to that little problem. But—"Apollo smacked a hand down on my leg. "Must you always be moving some part of your body?"

"It's annoying."
"You're annoying," I shot back.
To our left, Aiden rolled his eyes. "All right, children, back to the important stuff."
Aghhh that twist at the end, though.......the first time I read this book I NEVER thought of it being him all along. But, when you think about it.....it's so obvious.😂 What can I say? I'm always terrible at guessing who the culprit is.
There are many things I want, but one thing I definitely don't want is FOR THIS SERIES TO END AGAIN 😭😭😭
Well, I guess I should be preparing my Sentinel box of tissues..........
"Eíste pánta mou…"...more
"You are my everything."
Put away the crestfallen looks that I know my first sentence might have brought on because the truth was, I wanted to have a bit of a think before I wrote down my thoughts for everyone. Jennifer's writing is absolutely superb (there was no doubt) and I loved this book as much as the others, but unlike Deity, I didn't end this book feeling like I had just licked a battery or that someone stole my favorite toy.

(or bottle of rum as it was....hehe)
It's funny, Apollyon was probably just as much action-packed if not more than its predecessors in the Covenant Series, but at the last page, I was left with that feeling you get before a big storm strikes. I grew up in Tornado Alley, and if you have experienced the absolute stillness in the air before a tornado hits, you know the sensation I'm talking about. Why is that strange do you ask? Considering all the intense, gory action that led up to the last few pages....well you will know when you read it, just know it is intense and a little heart-wrenching altogether hence why I'm confused that I was able to put down the book in such a calm manner.
One thing that kept bothering me throughout the story was a disturbing out-of-body dream/vision Alex has in the book that left me feeling unsettled through the remainder of the story....I mean the possibility of the story ending so tragically....it hurts....I MEAN HOW THE F*** WAS I SUPPOSED TO CONCENTRATE ON AIDEN & ALEX'S BEAUTIFUL LOVE WITH THIS IMPENDING DOOM THREATENING TO TAKE AWAY MY HEA!!!!
....deep breaths....
The meat & potatoes of this book really came down to the mental and emotional struggle between Seth and Alex's bond. Redemption or not? Forgiveness or hate? Understanding or love? Alex had to find the strength within herself in order to come out the other end of the tunnel ready to lead her people into war. Sometimes I hated Seth. Sometimes I felt sorry for him. Mostly, I think he needs to put on his big boy pants; life is tough and you can't decimate the world because mommy didn't love you enough (harsh, but I don't take it back). Yes....there is that bit of him being addicted to akasha and drunk on the power, but I'm talking brass tacks people! Seth is bambi and a douche canoe all boxed up like a McDonalds Happy Meal. We will just have to wait and see if Alex is able to turn the lights on at home or if the house will stay dark in Sentinel.
In a lot of ways, this book was a bridge to prepare readers for what I'm sure will be a very epic and emotional ending (of which I have no doubt Jennifer will be bringing in all the big guns). Most people hate filler books. I know. But this is not a filler book. I think that's a derogatory connotation to how great this book was, it's the last leg of the journey to the battlefield (?). It's intense, there is baggage...lots and lots of emotional baggage to be dealt with. And it's sad. I may have sniveled a little into a tissue a time or three. There were so many lingering questions up to this point in the series and Apollyon gave me a lot of the answers to ideas and theories I had been tossing around in my head.
Aiden.
Holy wet undies.
So I don't think I can elaborate any further without giving away key pieces in the story. It's a journey of knowledge, emotion, and hopefully the final steps to the temple of OH MY GOD EPIC ENDINGS. I know I was a fat man sweatin in a cake shop below waiting for this release, but I have to admit that I'm content at the moment to wait on the edge of the cliff and overlook the scenery before I take the plunge into Sentinel. Read it. Love it.
O.M.G....I have set an alarm on my iphone and requested the day off work in anticipation for Apollyon, I absolutely cannot frickin wait! Jennifer Armentrout is a writing Goddess.....
G O D D E S S.
I am sweatin like a fat man in a cake shop waiting for this book release :)))

I've always been such a fan of Greek Mythology and I love how JLA incorporated that into the story. We see and meet a lot more gods in APOLLYON (YES!) and I hope to see a lot more in the last book! Can't get enough of the gods, yo!
ALEX! I seriously adored Alex in this book. If you've read my past reviews of the first three books, I found Alex a really annoying, indecisive, spoiled brat but in APOLLYON, she matures and makes (usually) the right choices. For me, what she lacked in the previous books totally makes up for in this. She's loyal, snarky, has a really big heart, and selfless. She always thinks of others. Not to mention her narration is frigging hilarious.
WHOA. I need a cold shower after this. The romance between Alex and Aiden really steps up and oh my gosh do we get some sexy scenes!! The Underworld scenes *DIES* Those two are at it like rabbits! LOL not that I was complaining. Anyway, their love for each even grows and just when you think you couldn't fall in love with Aiden a little bit more, you do. I'll be honest here, Aiden has never been my top JLA boy and probably never will be, but now I can see why a LOT of people love him. With APOLLYON, he shows us different sides to him that we don't know and it was just refreshing to see.
We all know I hate Seth, right? Yes I do and I was so goddamn happy when I was reading a book and Seth was barely in it. Like, just a tiny little bit. I know a lot of readers think there's still hope for him and redemption, but to be honest I just want to kick his ass. HATE HIM.
I will cry so much in the last book since I just can't imagine letting go of this cast of characters. Alex, Aiden, Deacon, Luke, Apollo and everyone I just can't bear to not read about them again. I know they're not all going to survive the next book but *sniff* I'm just hoping. I loved reading about them working as a group and like they're a family. And Marcus, I love ya dude!!
Obviously this wouldn't be a JLA novel without non-stop action, suprising twists and secrets. When the enemy was revealed, my mouth was hanging open. I was like WHAAAAA?? How did I not guess that?!? Maybe coz I was so distracted by Aiden but yeah, if you look hard enough, there are some hints but I thought it was all wonderfully done. And there was literally non-stop action, I was so worried for them that my heart was beating so fast haha.
There's so many of my favourite scenes that take place - where they meet the special someone, the Alex and Ladaan scenes, but the Underworld scenes are probably my favourite one, and I can honestly say this is the best Covenant book so far in my opinion and no doubt that Sentinel will be even better. Jennifer just keeps getting better with each book in the series!
This book will no doubt make you laugh (hey, this is JLA after all), giggle uncontrollably, swoooooon and of course, there are also touching scenes that will make you cry. My favourite author ever Jennifer L. Armentrout is the queen of YA (and NA and Adult) and she is slowly taking over the publishing world. You'd be crazy not to read any of her books. :)
...moreThis was pretty much what I expected… It wasn't good, it wasn't awful… Okay, it was pretty awful but it wasn't the worst thing I've ever read — there were loads of cheesy parts, predictable arcs and nonsensical dialogue… But I have to admit there was the occasional somewhat entertaining moment.
Why do I keep reading this series?
1. I like (most) of the secondary characters.
2. It reminds me of Vampire Academy, which I love (mostly, sort of).
3. Once I start a series I find it hard to give up

The worse thing about the series is the protagonist, Alex. She is one boring bitch. Even when she shows her dick-head side, she's still boring as fuck.

-I was excited to see 'Evil Alex' because there wasn't enough of her in Elixir. Unfortunately 'Evil Alex' wasn't evil AT ALL.
Does she kill anyone? No. Does she hurt anyone enough to cause long term damage? No. Does she say anything vile? No, she's just slightly more snarkier and bitchier than usual. It was a disappointment.
I couldn't take 'Evil Alex' seriously when she kept referring to Seth as 'My Seth'. It was weird. I'm guessing it was meant to show that Alex felt possessive and protective of Seth but it sounded lame… And it reminded me of how a parent refers to their child in conversation. The whole 'My Seth' thing came across as rather incestuous.
Another disappointment and somewhat of a cop out was the fact that Alex and Seth never met whilst they were bonded… Instead JLA took the easy route and conveniently had them hundreds of miles apart because it was easier to write. What a waste. It would have been great to see Seth and Alex all over each other, that at least would have caused major angst and drama between Alex and Aiden, and it would have breathed life into the lame love triangle. Is it even a love triangle when it's obvious that Alex only wants Aiden?
It's disappointing that JLA wrote the Seth/Alex bond + the effects of the bond so simply, and without imagination and daring. The previous three books built up this idea of a crazy-ridiculous-strong-impossible-to-break-unique bond yet it wasn't any of those things… All it did was make Alex more insufferable and more easily influenced by Seth… It was anticlimactic and it came across as silly and it was made even sillier when the bond was broken easily, and after a mere few chapters. How did it break? Through the power of twu wuv — it was corny and cheesy and made me sick.
-Alex had the personality of a dead frog in other words she was a Mary Sure. I honestly couldn't figure out what her appeal was. Why did Aiden love her?
Her voice was beyond annoying — her one liners were utter rubbish and I HATED the amount of times she said butt or crap - I wish she'd swear properly or not all, I was sick of her swearing like some dorky tween from the 80's.
Alex was so up herself — she thought everything was about her and that the gang were risking their lives for her benefit. The only reason anyone was protecting her was because it was for their own interest, but big headed Alex couldn't get that through her thick head… Even when she was told several times that the gang weren't helping her for her but for themselves she still thought it was all for her. Ugh.
-I've never liked Alex, she's like every other paranormal YA heroine. Well, actually she isn't, she's worse because she used to be a BULLY. She used to bully Lea as a child and she made everyone gang up on her, torment her and she even spat on her!
Why wasn't this mentioned in previous books? 1. Because Alex has never given a fuck about Lea 2. Alex never thought she did anything wrong by bullying Lea 3. Alex thinks she's perfect 4. Alex hates Lea and thinks she isn't worthy of a second thought unless of course she's 'slut shaming' her or being a bitch to her and 5. Alex is a self centered, horrible, nasty piece of work.
Alex had somewhat of an epiphany in this book and realised maybe her being a BULLYING BITCH was sort of bad. Does she feel guilty for tormenting Lea for no fucking reason? No, she just feels sort of sheepish about it. Did she give Lea an apology for bullying her as a child because she was jealous? No. She thought there would be no point. WTF?! Alex called her names, isolated her, made everyone gang up on her and spat on her and she doesn't think that was worth an apology?!
Yet she still held a grudge against her uncle Marcus because he was somewhat distant towards her growing up… And she wanted an apology and explanation for him treating her like that even though what he did to Alex was NOTHING in comparison to what Alex did to Lea. How did Alex not see her own hypocrisy and double standard? How did Alex not realise that if Marcus's lukewarm attitude hurt her than her own HOSTILE attitude towards Lea, hurt Lea??! WHAT A BITCH. ALEX IS A VILE FUCKING WANKER BITCH!
What's even worse is that in all the other books Alex acted like Lea was the bitch, that Lea was the unreasonable one, that Lea was the horrible person and that Lea was the one who started their antagonistic relationship. Alex never once made out that Lea's dislike of Alex was due to the bullying she suffered at Alex's hands. And then on top of that Alex goes around acting all goody-goody and self righteous and nice when in actual fact she's a DISGUSTING COW.
I could have handled reading about a heroine who was a bully, I would have actually found said heroine interesting and maybe even sympathetic and likeable if it was handled right but I can't even begin to warm to a bullying heroine that 1. Acts likes she's done no wrong and is perfect, warm and loving person and 2. Can't be bothered to apologise or at least act remorseful. Ugh.
Alex is a BITCH. The true heroine of the series is Lea… Of course, JLA had to kill her off because she hates strong non-virginal females.
-I hated how Alex thought Seth could be redeemed — he murdered thousands of people and was responsible for a fucking apocalypse! There's no redeeming that — just because he had a less than happy childhood doesn't excuse what he did. Most people have something shit in their lives, that in no way means that it's a-okay if they go around starting apocalypses and murdering thousands of innocents! Seth isn't redeemable, he's a murderer and he played a part in bringing about the end of the world… It doesn't matter if his mummy didn't love him! He's still a psychopath!
Oh, it gets even worse, the thick cow thinks she's 'failed Seth'. It doesn't seem to cross Alex's mind that 1. No-one forced Seth to become a psychotic murderer, he chose to and 2. She's not his bloody mum, he's not her FUCKING responsibility, she's only known him a few bastard months! Yet the dumb bitch still thinks it's all her fault that he's a hateful power hungry psycho. She's so dumb.
-I'm liking Aiden more, he's still bland and cliched but I did find his love for Alex quite sweet.
-Most of the side characters are good. They're not the most layered or unique of characters but they are pretty entertaining - Lea, Olivia, Marcus, Caleb… I thought they were decent enough.
-Why do all the immortal gods sound like a cross between a wannabe gangster and a dorky tween?
-Caleb appearing in ghost form to help Alex just reminded me of Mason/Rose in VA. I hate how much of the series is picked straight out of VA.
-I got tired of the amount of times Aiden's eyes and jaw were mentioned. I want to read a story not various fucking descriptions of Aiden's body parts!
-I'm sick of heroines looking in the mirror and noticing some profound change in their appearance because of all the shit they've been through. It's so cheesy and it's just a lazy way of trying to say that the heroine has changed/become deeper without putting any actual effort in developing the heroine in a way that the reader can see for themselves instead of being told in some convenient, inorganic and nonsensical fashion.
-I wasn't impressed with the depiction and handling of the secondary female characters. They were all written in a way to make Alex look better than all the other girls.
Lea was made out to be a shallow harpy then was killed off. Olivia was just the grieving girlfriend and was barely in it. Ladaan was a pathetic damsel in distress who had been pining for a man for decades even though said man was in love with her friend. Ugh. I wish authors would be brave and talented enough to write amazing side female characters who had their own struggles and victories instead of them being used as props to make the heroine seem speshul.
-Please don't tell me Alex is pregnant. That was the hint I got towards the end… I hope I'm wrong. I mean, what's with all the teen pregnancy in YA?
Yea, Alex was shit.
I'll be reading the next one but I won't be starting any new future series by JLA. Her books are all the same… Boring Virginal Mary Sue meets Mysterious Manslut Sexy Guy… Manslut treats Mary Sue like shit… Mary Sue is speshul snowflake and will save the world or some shit… Manslut wuvs Mary Sue because she's virginal… Mary Sue whines, moans, acts dumb and somehow manages to save everyone… Manslut and Mary Sue commit to each other for life even though they're only teenagers. UGH.
I can't wait for the Covenant and Lux series to finish… I've had enough. I wish I didn't feel the need to finish every series I start because its torture reading books I know will be rubbish. I shall persevere though, I always do.
ETA 14/4/13. I just remembered some other rubbish.
-Where the fuck was the storyline? The first half was just Alex moaning about Seth and the bond and the second half was her moaning about how shit her life was. And why the fuck didn't we get to see the build up and beginnings of the apocalypse for ourselves? Instead we had Aiden and the gang casually tell Alex that the world had gone to fuck since she'd been locked up. Was it too much effort to actually write it happening first hand?
-What the fuck was with all the mentions of tv shows (Supernatural, Charmed…) and other books? Any time Sam or Dean or Harry Potter was mentioned it took me right out of the story.
-Worst of all she mentioned her Lux series and had a character swoon over the guy on the front cover. Was I meant to find that cute or funny? It was pathetic and sad.

Aiden: Aiden........HOLY DAIMON BUTT YOU ARE THE HOTTEST SENTINEL ALIVE!!!!!!!! Throughout the whole book I couldn't stop saying "Oh Aiden!!!" I seriously love you and you are everything I want in a book boyfriend!!!! Aiden did not disappoint in this book he came through hard and strong and I loved that so much! Alex is a lucky girl to have someone that understands her crazy ways and loves her more than anything. Yes, I know I was #TeamSeth for awhile but Seth cannot compete with Aiden at all!! #TeamAiden FOR LIFE!!!!
Alex: I really loved how much Alex has grown throughout this series, she is way more mature in this book and has put her bitch fits to the side......well not the whole time lol and that is why I love her! Even though Alex has grown she is still not afraid to speak her mind and kick ass if she has to, I mean come on she is the Apollyon she can do anything she wants.Being the Apollyon isn't all that easy. Alex must accept her fate and fight against it at the same time in order to save the world....Alex literally has the weight of the world on her shoulders and I'm hoping she makes it through.
Seth: YOU SO DAMN EVILLLLLLL!!!!! I had so much faith in you and now I don't know what to think anymore *sigh* what has come over you???? What happened to the fun loving Seth I've grown to love? I am so DONE with you for now!
Apollo: YOU ARE WONDERFUL!!!!! I really enjoyed Apollo in this book, he looked out for Alex in his own crazy way and I'm glad Alex has someone like him to look out for her when she needs it the most. I hope to see more of him in Sentinel!
Romance: A SHIT LOAD OF IT!!! HOLY GODS YOU WILL NOT BELIEVE ALL THE SEX/LOVE SCENES WITH ALEX AND AIDEN!!!! CAN WE SAY HOTTT DAMN!!!! This book is what everyone has been waiting for for along time and I am really happy that Alex and Aiden aren't afraid to show affection and let others know their in love. This book was so romantic on so many levels I still can't wrap my head around it, I LOVED THIS BOOK!!!
Action: Not so much which is fine with me, I'd rather have more Alex and Aiden love scenes any day.
Plot: GREAT as always of course!
Overall: Best book in the series to build up for Sentinel and I cannot wait!!!!! I so wish they were giving out ARCS for this one because I would kill for it(not really)! I am really sad this series has to come to an end so soon I really feel like I started reading this series yesterday and it is one of those books you cannot get out of your head and you think about it constantly...ugh so bittersweet!!! *tear*

Apollyon is book #4 in the Covenant series by Jennifer Armentrout.

There are advantages and disadvantages to binge reading an entire series from start to finish. The advantages, especially for those of us who might be slightly memory deficient, is to not have to wait that pesky year between books and then not be able to remember what happened in the previous book. The disadvantage, is that I am so immersed into this world, into these characters, that I am pretty much worthless as a contributing member of society otherwise. I am pretty much living these books, whether I am actually reading nor not. I think about little else. I'm not sure if this is normal or not.
Alex has awakened. The problem is that she immediately connected to Seth. Everything she feared, happened. She lost herself. Aiden never gave up. First they tried the Elixir but he knew it was wrong. This was not the way to bring Alex back. So he locked her back up and just talked to her. All day every day, reminding her how much he loved her. In the end, the rose necklace around her neck, the symbol of the love Aiden has for her, is what saved her.
"Something so small had been the one thing to break the connection. But it wasn't the rose itself, but what it symbolized—Aiden's love for me and how I felt for him—something pure and natural, an emotion not forced."
Aiden and Alex have gone public with their love. They figured that the pure/half relationship problem was the least of their worries. They and their little band of friends and family have got to find a way to stop Seth and Lucian. But there is a God that is helping Seth and Lucian. One God that wants all of the power. So the other Gods have decided that since Alex has broken her connection with Seth, they will support her. They want Seth and Lucian stopped.
Alex needs to find out how she can steal the power from Seth before he takes it from her. With Apollo's help, she and Lucian have to go to the underworld to find a past Apollyon that holds this information. But it is said that those that travel to the underworld never return.
And what if they do get this information and she drains Seth's power? Then she would be the God killer. What happens then?
"Gods, I was so not old enough or mature enough to be making these kinds of decisions."
Our group travels from Illinois to the underworld to South Dakota and to Olympus itself. Alex is broken and put back together again, both physically and emotionally. I remember in one of the previous reviews I complained that there wasn't enough of the love story yet. Well, that is so not the case anymore. The love story between Alex and Aiden is epic. I could highlight quotes all day and just fill up the review with them. Their love for each other is epic, sigh worthy, swoon worthy, do I need to go on?
And need I remind you that Alex JUST turned 18. She has the fate of the entire world, billions of people, on her shoulders. This book of course, ended on a cliff hanger but that's fine. It's fine because I am immediately going into the final book. This is something I need to do to retain my own sanity. So I will close with a couple of quotes. Stay tuned for the conclusion to this epic series. I can't wait to find out how it all ends.
"So this is the Apollyon?"
"That would be me."
"For some reason, I expected you to be taller."
"To love is not weak. Love is the strongest thing there is."
"Eiste panta mou…"
You are my everything."
My Aiden:
My Alex:
"And that kind of love is more important than anything right now, Lexie. It's going to keep you sane. It's always going to remind you of who you really are."
There are no doubts that Jennifer L. Armentrout is amazing author and that her writing is phenomenal. This book is just another proof of that. Apollyon was never boring Apollyon is full of action and fighting, Greek Gods, terrifying as well as swoonworthy scenes. Definitely the best in series so far! SPOILER-FREE REVIEW:

There are no doubts that Jennifer L. Armentrout is amazing author and that her writing is phenomenal. This book is just another proof of that. Apollyon was never boring or slow paced, something interesting was happening all the time. Apollyon is exactly the kind of book that makes you forget world arround you while reading.
It is pointless to describe this book into details without giving spoilers. I just want to mention that Alex finally grew up mentally in this book. Her decisions were more mature, not rushed. But her snarky remarks remained :) Also, this book strenghten my dislike of Seth. His filthy sneaky nature was getting on my nerves whole time and his stupid cruel behaviour really repulsed me. Fortunatelly, there was Aiden, honourable boyfriend, sentinel, brother, man...
I love Covenant series! This series is the best series based on Greek mythology I have read so far. If you haven't read them yet, do so as soon as possible.

Just when I think Jennifer Armentrout has shown us her best and written her most captivating story to date, she goes and ups the ante! I have loved the Covenant series since I first met these incredible characters in the unforgettable Half-Blood, and I thought Deity was just amazing when I read it last year. Well, I can honestly say that, of all Jennifer's outstanding stories, this is without a doubt her best work to date!!
After reading Deity, I was so anxious and at the same time terribly nervous about getting my hands on Apollyon. I knew Aiden and Alex were not in a good place, and I feared there were many dark days ahead that would make for a very painful read. Thankfully, though, this was not the 'evil possessed Alex' marathon that I had dreaded. Instead we had an entirely new adventure with our favorite characters, on a quest that had them facing the ghosts of their past and battling each other as well as some downright terrifying creatures. Lucian and Seth are hell-bent on wreaking havoc, and it seems they have help from an unexpected source that is leaning the odds highly in their favor. But in true JLA fashion, balancing out all of the heavy plot twists to perfection is our beloved cast of characters, who had me smiling and snickering right along with them. I'm not sure who was more amusing this time around, Alex or Apollo, but it was a close race!!
Apollo sat back, eyeing the roof of the Hummer like he'd never seen one before. He tapped the internal light once and it flicked on, then he turned it off. Shiny things must be distracting for gods, too. He did it again, brows furrowed.
"Apollo," I snapped.
"I also doubt Apollo meant for your mouth to be the only thing getting a workout."-Aiden
So many inappropriate comments rose to the tip of my tongue and danced around, but I snapped my jaw shut and glared at him.-Alex
Alex has been my all-time favorite heroine from the moment I began reading this series, but she truly stamps her claim on that title this time around. Always determined and unabashedly brave despite the odds, she is more powerful than ever as an awakened apollyon, and I couldn't love her more!! We've watched Alex go through so much, from the trials of teen angst to enduring torture and the death of loved ones, and through it all she's been the pillar of strength and kept that spunky outlook that made her so much fun to love! She's grown right before our eyes into a self-assured, powerful woman who will do anything for those she cares about, even if it means giving up her own life. Yep, she rocks!!
And of course, there's the sexy, brave, and tender Aiden who stole my heart long ago; he had me weak at the knees all over again, and if possible I think I just love him even more!
Apollyon once again showcases JLA's literary prowess with her breathtaking visuals, engaging characters, and an addicting, captivating plot that was so full of twists and turns that it was nearly impossible to step away. I couldn't get enough of Aiden and Alex together, and somehow every moment they shared was more beautiful and passionate than the next. In the tales of epic YA love stories, I would say that theirs without a doubt goes down as one of the most breathtaking. Through pain, loss, never-ending obstacles, and even death, their love has survived and flourished to become something unbreakable and unparalleled, and JLA has made it unforgettable!!
With danger closing in around them, there was pretty much no way Alex and her crew were going to make it out unscathed. Even if their world didn't resemble a post-apocalypse thanks to vengeful gods and rampant daimons, something bigger was lurking around the corner, and a huge twist had my stomach in knots and left me feeling ill in it's aftermath! Ugh, it just tore me to pieces!! Apollyon may be the fourth book of this series, but it packed all the punches of a thrilling debut. It was the perfect blend of gut-wrenching suspense, action, sexy and passionate love story, and fascinating mythological twists, and it had me hooked from start to finish. As much as it will pain me to say goodbye to these characters I love so dearly, I can NOT wait to see the long-awaited conclusion to this phenomenal series when Sentinel releases later this year!!
Thank you so much to Spencer Hill Press for allowing me to review an ARC of this incredible story!!

The thing about this series is that every book gets better and better and better. I loved 80% of this book so much and enjoyed the other 20% a lot. I feel like I'm still on a bit of a high from this book and can't form a proper sentence about all the things I loved, so let me just explain to you guys why I didn't give this 5 stars. And I am going to hide that behind a spoiler just in case.
(view spoiler)[First, the stuff in the Underworld felt waaaay too simple. It was made out to be a super-difficult thing and possibly either Alex or Aiden would not survive and then it just felt like a walk in the park. A bit disappointing.
Second, the fact that Ares was behind all of this was obvious quite early on once they started discussing which god or goddess that could be in charge. Might be because he was a baddie in Percy Jackson as well, or it might be because my sister once wrote a Greek Mythology piece for an English class and had me read it and Ares was the biggest warmonger of all time. So once the first clues showed up I just went "Yep, it's Ares" and then I spent some time being annoyed at the characters not figuring it out as fast as I did. (hide spoiler)]
And now I'm at that point where I want to read the next (and final) novel, but I'm also terrified that something terrible is going to happen to the Scooby Gang. Halp!

I swear to God.. If I would have read "My Seth" one more time, I would have hurt someone, mainly Alex!!!!!! "Apollyon" took the series to a whole other level, darker and stronger and you just have a difficult time figuring out your favorite book from the series. It is a very hard task because all of them are amazing and beautifully written, with major events going on and with characters evolving each chapter. As the title spoils, Alex is the Apollyon now, connected entirely and irevocably with Seth. The first part of the book was extremely annoying and again, I wanted to punch her in the face for being so blind and stupid!! I had faith that the real Alex will come back to us and Aiden, because Jennifer doesn't have the heart to torment us long. Things settle at a certain point, but after that everything comes back around and the adventure continues, only this time stronger and more intense. A lot of things will be put together and our team will figure out that they have a greater enemy, with a higher purpose and more dangerous than the "Seth and Lucian" duo.
"Intense" is the word to describe this book. The events had a more meaningful impact on the readers, the feelings were raw and the way it was transferred to us was overwhelming. There were a lot of parts in the book which I've read without breathing. How does Jennifer does it, I don't know…. But not only without breathing, I was fascinated by the style and the emotion I've felt:)
Speaking of intense, this word can be used to describe Aiden and Alex, because I love them and I know they will stick with me a long time from now on. They took their relationship to a whole different level, and sincerely, I don't think that "love" is enough to make a proper characterization. What they have is above love and connection, they were amazing and so bonded by a feeling that can't be described in words. Aiden will be 100% on display now, his feelings out in the open and willing to sacrifice everything for the one he loves. Alex, on the other hand, feels the same, but she will do some mistakes because she is overly protective and such a martyr sometimes. She blames her so much for the hurt or loss of her loved ones, but she will learn to live the moment and fight for everything she believes in.
I don't think that I could ever get tired of writing about this series because it is definitely one of the best I've read so far.. not only this year, but from always:) I also bought them paperbacks because I just have to get them shinning on my bookshelves. Everything is amazing and dynamic, very well researched and connected. Not all is exposed because Jennifer is giving you pieces to put together, but the outcome is FANTASTIC. I am truly fascinated. Love it:)
5 stars!!

...moreDeity ended
By now, it's pretty clear that Jennifer L. Armentrout knows what she's doing. Little by little, she's converted even the strongest non-believers, including me. I still maintain that Half-Blood is a result of blatant plagiarism, but I have changed my mind about the series as a whole, and I'm not one to keep quiet in such an occasion. Ever since Pure, I've been enjoying this series more and more with each new installment, and now, with just one book left, I can even call myself a fan.Deity ended with Alex in the middle of a major disaster. I won't say much more lest I spoil it for some poor, unsuspecting soul, but it was a vicious cliffhanger – I ranted about it HERE. Elixir, the subsequent novella in Aiden's POV softened the blow just a little bit, but still, Apollyon couldn't come soon enough. And again, there were no disappointments coming from the JLA camp. Apollyon is just as exciting, just as romantic, just as heartbreaking as the previous installments, if not more.
Our favorite Sentinels are in the middle of a war. Now that they're facing a powerful and invisible enemy, Alex's past problems seem funny in comparison, even to her. The only thing that really keeps her together is that she's not alone. Although she's lost so much, she's still surrounded by her loved ones, both her real family and her replacement family, and she's willing to do anything to protect them. Now that she's the Apollyon, she might actually stand a chance, if only she could somehow separate herself from the First and put her own needs first.
It is almost impossible to predict the outcome in the battle of wills between Alex and Seth. Both are strong, driven, determined to do anything to achieve their goals. But the prophecy says Alex is there to give her power to the First, not the other way around, so defying that prophecy is her only choice.
Let's not kid ourselves: we read these books for their plots, and their worldbuilding, and their humor, but above all, we read them for the romance. Let me assure you, the romance in Apollyon is exquisite. Keep those smelling salts within reach, ladies, our favorite couple will make you swoon.
Yes, some of Armentrout's popularity comes from the fact that she doesn't hesitate to write numerous scenes that are pure fan service, but I'm a fan, and I like to be given exactly what I want. I suppose we could rant about artistic integrity, but honestly, some books you read for their artistic value, and some just to have fun. And guess what? I'm all about fun. So bring it on, JLA! I'll buy it, I'll read it, and I'll thank you for it.

Now back to the point, this series.. Oh, this series.. I don't know what to say, but one thing is for sure, this series is one of the best series I've ever read 😍
Jennifer L. Armentrout never fails to amaze me and take me to a world of magic that keeps me highly entertained and distracted ❤
This book was another rollerco I've never been a fan of the Greek mythology, but this series sparked in me an interest in the Greek Gods like I've never had before. I really want/need to learn more about them 😃

This book was another rollercoaster of action and emotions. It was literally breathtaking! The end was bittersweet, but perfect! It kept my mouth watered for more 😁
I can't wait to start the last book and see what will happen, but I feel so reluctant for I don't really want this series to end.. 😔 ...more

I am just so happy to see Alex changed into a more mature person. She's not as impetuous anymore, which is really great.
After all, she is the Apollyon now. She is very powerful and she can't have those knee-jerk reactions that were so characteristic of her. She needs to be taken seriously and if she was acting like a teenage girl out of control, that wouldn't happen.
She needs to think very carefully before acting. I hope she can do what has to be done in order to save those she loves and pretty much everybody else.
Maybe she can even save Seth. In spite of the unforgivable things he has done, I too feel he is not all lost.
It's so sad he sought love and acceptance in all the wrong places and that he allowed himself to be overpowered by his need for power.
He is blind to everything outside his own needs and desires. Everything could have been different if he hadn't allowed himself to be molded into someone else's weapon.
He wouldn't have had what he wanted from Alex, because she loves Aiden, but he would have been happy. He would have had a great friend in Alex and, with time, maybe in Aiden too.
I can only expect the worse and hope the best.
But one thing is certain - Alex will never be alone. She has Aiden, always had and will always have.
Once again, he showed just how incredibly perfect he is.
I am constantly amazed with the lengths he goes to, in name of his love for Alex. He never gave up on her. He was always the steady light who never flickered.
I can't possibly imagine how much he suffered seeing everything that was done to his great love, not being able to do anything but fight with everything he got, wait and hope for the best.
He needs to be happy already. He deserves it!
*sits in the corner obsessively waiting for Sentinel*

BEFORE READING
Jennifer, you are trying to kill me!
OMG! That end!
Seth is a freaking bastard! He is going to take Alex from my Aiden and destroy the freaking world!
That cannot be true!
But Alex said that she would never lose herself since she had her love for Aiden and Aiden's love for her.
Yes, yes, yes. Calm yourself down, Lucy!

Seriously, this series just gets better and better. It surpassed my expectations but of course that's JLA. She can do no fucking wrong! This book was insanely awesome! So much happened and my head was spinning. The action, the romance, the emotions and everything in between. It was just incredible.Aiden St Delphi is a god of all gods. Okay apparently I didn't get the memo that I can post my review now. Well, it could be that I didn't read the information clearly when I received the book. Anyway, whatever I will get on with this review so I don't bore you all to tears.
First of all, A HUGE GRATEFUL THANK YOU to Spencer Hill Press for accepting my request for this ARC!!! I was a basketcase, so happy and ecstatic I cried. Yeah, I'm a baby. Get over it.
After I finished Deity, I was a mess. I cried and couldn't believe the end of that book. I'd already been on this huge emotional breakdown throughout the book. It was intense! So when I finished, I was told about the novella from Aiden's (long sigh) POV. I couldn't wait to read that baby. Elixir was by far the best novella I'd read at the time(and now he competes with Ash...and tie). Elixir was so heartbreaking. My emotions were everywhere again. Aiden is just the most genuine, sincere romantic boys out there. And after seeing what he had to do to Alex tore me to pieces because we all knew he hated putting her through that torture. Reading from the guy's POV is emotional and torturous so it was no surprise I found myself crying. Poor Aiden.
So when it was finished, I felt slightly satisfied...but still torn and needed Apollyon. So when I put in my request for it, you can imagine the reaction I had when I was told I get it. Ahhhhhhhh, I was so excited! It was like winning the lottery!
This will be a hard review to write...I have to keep it spoil free but it's one I have so much to say about. Damn, I guess that is what happens when I get a book ahead of everyone else. So let me keep this semi-short and sweet...before I ramble on and give stuff away.
I am having a hard time deciding if I loved Deity or Apollyon better. I think they are tied, BUT I wanna say Apollyon was slightly better. The action was crazy intense...there were so many swoony, steamy moments that made me salivate at the mouth. Oh Aiden, I love that guy!!! Sigh.
With that said, each book seems to get better and better. I was hooked instantly. I loved the mythology so much in this book. It was all so fascinating and well done. We get to meet new characters and reunite with old ones that make us smile and some that make us cringe in anger and hatred. The action was so packed, I had whiplash. The romance was to die for. The battle scenes were very well orchestrated and kept you glued to the book, with your heart pumping like crazy.
The characters are so amazing! I love Deacon, Marcus, Luke, Lea, Olivia, Alex, Apollo, Solos and of course Aiden. They are all a great group of well-developed characters that made me laugh and root for them during all these crazy scenes. Never a dull moment with Deacon and Luke though. Oh and I still can't stand Seth. That hasn't changed.
I know this book is well worth the wait and once you get your hands on it, you won't want to put it down! JLA has outdone herself in this gripping, action packed book, the fourth installment of the Covenant series. A must read!
Thanks again to Spencer Hill Press! I will be seething until I get my hands on Sentinel.

Fanfreakingtastic!!!LOVE LOVE LOVE!!I swear, I don't know how Jennifer L. Armentrout finds the energy to keep creating amazing books after amazing books. Someone needs to bottle it up and spread it around the world. Think of all the peace we can achieve. But in all seriousness, I've never met a JLA book I didn't like!
Apollyon proves to be another exciting installment in the Covenant series, bringing in more action and more romance then ever before, leaving us breathless and begging for the final conclusion.
I gotta tell ya, some of the hardest reviews I have to write are the ones that have to be spoil-free and the ones that I'm most passionate and excited about. Which are usually all of JLA books.
I always find myself struggling with the right words to convey how much I adored this book and this series, but without giving away to much. I am just such a fan of everything this women puts to pen and in complete awe of her never ending imagination and creativity. She plots in her evil mad genius ways and is an unflinching force when it comes to writing these remarkable characters.
There is a lot that happens in this book, but not all of our questions were answered. The biggest questions are still to come for the last hurrah. Almost like Jennifer gave us yummy appetizers to sink our teeth into before the main course is revealed. And the best part? We aren't left hanging with our mouths open gasping for air. Evil cliffy be gone!
Plot wise, everything gets stepped up a notch. Everyone is running around doing damage control and grasping at straws to figure out how to stop the First from destroying the entire world while trying to tame the Gods long enough for Alex to come out of the dark side and join the side of the sane. All the while Aiden is festering with guilt for putting Alex through one of her greatest fears. So in short, lot of drama, lots of angst and lot and lots of swoon worthy goodness all for our reading pleasure.
The mythology also takes a front seat in this book even more so then the previous ones. We get to see some new Godly faces and one of them shocked the Hades out of me! I've always been a huge fan of mythology and love the way Jennifer handles this lore. It's fun and unpredictable and it constantly keeps me on my toes.
All the characters are just so amazing. Some seemed to grow in new and different ways. The atmosphere is more dangerous and dire and it's like they can taste it in the air. They are all preparing for the best but also expecting the worse. For Seth fans, he's in this book...but he's not at the same time. And for Aiden fans, well, the man just keeps getting better and sweeter then ever. It's amazing to witness his playful and feisty side opposed to his ever present stubbornness and control. I laughed out loud at his protectiveness in this book considering who and what Alex is. So adorable!
Alex has always awed me, she's such an incredible protag and the perfect character to go on this journey
with. Her laid back personality and sarcastic charm mixed with her kickass abilities is nothing short of brilliance.
We also get to see an old friend that leaves a warm fuzzy feeling in my heart. Those scenes really add
beautifully to the story line.
As for the romance, well, lets just say those were my favorite moments and I gave each scene an extra read three or five times before moving on. It was just so dame sweet and curl-your-toes romantic that I couldn't get the stupid-grin off my face. Loved will never be a strong enough word.
And last but not least, the ending might not have ended on a cliffhanger, but it was a different kind of brutal that was very hard to read. And that's all I'm gonna say about that.
Bottom line, with the risk of sounding like a broken record on repeat, I absolutely loved this book. The Convent series is one of the most addicting and heart pounding books I ever read. It's fun and funny and I always find myself bouncing with pure joy when ever I get a chance to read these books early and end up with the hugest grin on my face and a big pit of worry in my belly when it's all said and done.
This is the stuff that makes reading, magic!
Action punched and pulse pounding madness. Apollyon is the forth installment in the covenant series and the best one to date. It will have you on your knees begging for the final book Sentinel!!

July 2017: I'm beginning think that my amount of love for Jennifer Armentrout and this series is getting dangerously out of control.
I don't even have the words to describe how incredible this was. This series just keeps getting better and better, totally exceeding my expectation and blowing me way entirely.
The story was just bursting with love, bad-assery, character growth, super awesome relationships, shocking plot twists, cool gods, and every other brilliant thing I could ever hope for.
The ending was absolutely phenomenal, and I'm pretty sue I held my breath for the entire last few pages. It was SO intense!
Aiden was hotter and sweeter than ever, which I did not even realize was possible, (view spoiler)[ though the part with his guilt about the brew drove me insane! I felt so bad for Alex because he was avoiding her when she needed him most, but I also felt bad for Aiden because he felt so unnecessarily guilty. It just tore my heart out. Also, he never once gave up on Alex when she was connected to Seth, and always saw the girl that he loved was somewhere, buried deep within her. It was beautiful to see how lovingly persistent he was, especially when he finally got through to her. He was so careful to never even lay a finger on her when she was coming close to killing him in the outside of the cabin. Now that is love! (hide spoiler)]
Deacon was even more hilarious than ever, (view spoiler)[ and I adored seeing a few peeks at his relationship with Luke. (hide spoiler)]
Apollo was also absolutely hilarious and I have come to love his character so much!
And of course, Alex was as sassy and kickass as ever. She also went under a lot of growth and development throughout the book, and her relationship with Marcus really grew, which I loved. I think that he's a great uncle and he really cares about her, but he just doesn't know how to show it. Especially in the first book, where I hate him. It's kind of funny to look back on that now because each of the characters have come so far from where they started and I feel so proud.
If you haven't read this series yet, I would highly suggest doing so! It is beyond words.
March 2019: Listening to this as an audio book makes some of the lines seem sooo cheesy! Also, what is up with all of the characters pressing their foreheads together all. the. time? Do people actually do this? Because the characters in practically every single one of her books do. And it's weird.
I also just noticed how much I like the synopsis of this book. I love the opening line: "Fate isn't something to mess with and now, neither is Alex." It perfectly captures the theme of the story!
